Ancient Egyptians had their own homes. Most ancient Egyptians worked very hard as field hands, farmers, craftsmen, and scribes, but they left time each day for play and to spend time with their families.
The Egyptians had great leaders. The pharaoh Khufu was most famous for the Khufu Pyramid. He was either called a harsh and cruel ruler while others called him kind and caring. Khufu was ruling during the Old Kingdom and had a stable food supply. He mostly declared himself as a god. Another great leader was Pharaoh Senusret I. He controlled mines of gold and gems, and met the god Anubis when he died. Sadly, all his monuments that he made fell. After Senusret I, Pharaoh Hatshepsut became pharaoh. She was the first female pharaoh of Egypt. She dressed up as a man to gain power. Hatshepsut encouraged trade and wanted respect. The final great leader was Pharaoh Ramses II. He had 100 wives and over 100 children. Ramses ruled for 60 years and signed the first peace treaty. He was fearless and brave as a soldier. He became captain of the army at age 10! Isn’t that insane!?!
